AUBSU is a member of BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport), which pits students from hundreds of UK universities against each other in 52 different sports. Take a look at the team and individual opportunities listed below and get in touch with us if you're interested in competing. 

 

 

TEAM COMPETITION

 

`We have several sports clubs at AUBSU. Each one has weekly training sessions, great kits, and entry to competitions and leagues.

 

NETBALL

 

The AUB Netball Team has a level 2 coach for weekly training sessions, which take place on Tuesdays, 5-6:30pm, at Glenmoor and Winton Academy. The team is entered into a local league, with weekly matches taking place every Wednesday.

TAEKWONDO

 

Training sessions are on Wednesdays, 5-7pm over at SportBU Studio 2. Some of our students also train at a local club. The team is keen to compete, so will be looking into entering leagues this year.

FOOTBALL

 

Football train weekly on Suundays. This year they will be entering a local league, playing games every Wednesday from mid-Oct.

RUGBY

 

AUB's rugby team (unofficially titled 'The Seahorses') train weekly on Tuesdays 6-7pm and Thursdays 6-7pm (though dates and locations may change so it's best to check the club's Facebook group for their next training session), and compete each year in Bournemouth 7s, the UK's largest music and sports festival.

CLIMBING

 

Climbing is one of our fastest growing clubs at AUBSU. They meet multiple times per week, doing free-climbing sessions (without ropes) and rope climbing sessions (with ropes, obviously).

SURFING

 

You can't live in Bournemouth and not at least try surfing. Our Surf Club meet weekly (weather and surfing conditions depending). If you're unsure about joining, we'd recommend taking part in our Give it a Go surf sessions first to grasp the basics of surfing. You can always chat to our Surf Club first no matter your level - they're a welcoming bunch.
Yearly cost: £35 (however some members pay extra for insurance)

KIT

 

We've teamed up with Bournemouth-based Viper 10 to give you some of the best looking, top quality kit around. They also make kit for premiership rugby players and international netball athletes, so you know 

Kit orders will be placed during the first training session of the year - and we'll have kit on hand for you to try on for size before the order gets placed.

 

 

INDIVIDUAL ENTRY

 

We're hard at work developing new sporting opportunities at AUB, but owing to the size of the university there are some sports that we simply aren't able to offer yet. However, if you are passionate about one of the following sports and want to put yourself forward to represent AUB at a national level then we want to hear from you, and we can help you with funding for your BUCS entry.
