THINGS TO DO IN BOURNEMOUTH

Bournemouth's got all sorts going on. Not do we have the best beach in the UK gracing our doorstep (and that's not just our opinion, apparently it's actually won awards for being the best beach), but we're lucky to have a cool selection of bars, cafes, independent shops, and activities to really sink your teeth into.

Stuck for things to do? Here's a few suggestions to get you started!

Visit Durdle Door

The beach is cool and everything, but Durdle Door is where you really get to see the Jurassic Coast at it's finest. Sit in the sand and take in the majestic views of the limestone arch over the sea, or hike up and over the cliff path and explore Lulworth Cove.

EXPLORE AN ABANDONED MINI GOLF PARK

If you like your golf pint-sized AND abandoned, then this one is for you. The old mini golf course (which originated in 1931 and is one of the oldest courses in the UK) is derelict and totally un-playable, but there’s something rather nice about seeing nature reclaim it. Plus it's a great opportunity to snap some great photos.

Go for a spin at the velodrome

This outdoor velodrome is just a 5 minute walk from campus, and when its not booked out it’s completely free to use. Bring your bike and have a go at tackling the banked track (or bring a skateboard and do cool skateboardy stuff).

Visit the smallest cinema in the UK

Though its name suggests size and grandeur, the Colosseum is actually the smallest cinema in the UK. It shows a selection of films from the 50s, 60s, and 70s as well as cult classics. It’s situated in the basement of The Vintage Lounge, which is also worth having a mosey about in too!

meet some cats

If you're upset at leaving your pets at home whilst you're away at uni, Pause Cat Cafe may be a great afternoon out for you. Drink coffee, eat your weight in vegan treats, and pet some cats. The Pause crew are all about promoting animal welfare, ethical eating, and volunteering and community projects – what a good bunch of eggs!
