AUB’s Students’ Union (AUBSU) has been granted funding from Sport England’s Sportivate program in order to increase sporting participation amongst our students. The money is being used to fund the “Give it a Go” project which will see 8 new sports being rolled out to AUB students and we are looking to recruit a Sports Assistant to support the work of this project.
The role will be diverse and will involve working with AUBSU colleagues to promote sport and activities amongst the students at AUB. This will involve helping to develop the work we are doing with Active Dorset County Sports Partnership on the ‘Give it a Go’ program and assisting in implementing a sustainability strategy for the project.
The successful applicant will support the development and enhancement of sports related activities for the AUB student body, working with the elected officers and the respective sports captains to secure improved opportunities for all AUB students.
You will need to have a keen interest in sports, and sports administration, and be able to work with a wide range of stakeholders, both inside the institution and externally. You will assist team captains in identifying suitable venues for sporting activities, and support the establishment of new sporting clubs, working with leaders who may have limited experience of organising sporting activities.
The position provides an excellent opportunity for someone with a real enthusiasm to encourage others to engage in sporting activity.
