Walking & Hiking Society: Stour Valley and Throop Walk

Location: Stour Valley

Key info: Expected to walk 3 hours, distance is 5.92 miles. Terrain is gravelled or paved, very flat with no incline. The level grading for this walk in Intermediate. We aim to start the walk at 10am.

Description: Our last walk for the year will be along the Stour Valley Trail and into the village of Throop. It is a beautiful walk and area with lots of wildlife and picturesque landscapes. 

The paths can be wet even days after rain though so we strongly recommend good footwear. We will stop for lunch along the walk and there is a visitor centre at the start and end of the walk with toilets. 

Transport: You will have to arrange your own transport for this walk. There is a car park at the visitor entrance (see map attached) and several bus stops nearby. 

We recommend the number 4 bus from Bournemouth Square. It leaves Bournemouth Square Stand S at 9.30am. Your destination stop is Granby Road at around 9.54am.
