FRESHERS' FAQ

where do i bUy tickets?

You can grab tickets and look at event details right here. Some events aren't ticketed (because they're free, woo!). Check out the full What's On calendar to see everything that's happening.

What kind of freshers' events are being held?

We've put together a whole range of freshers' events to welcome new students to life at AUB. We have everything from excursion trips to explore the local area, workshops, bbq's, and much more. We know that not everyone is about that 'getting drunk all the time' freshers' experience, so we've tried to include as many activities as possible that do not encourage excessive drinking. For those of you who are impartial to a drink (or seven, we won't judge, just be safe!) Bournemouth has many bars and nightclubs to check out during your first few weeks here.

Why are there no AUBSU club nights being held?

In our experience, club nights run by us just aren't popular. There are multiple different club nights going on every night during freshers' here in Bournemouth, so there will be plenty of things to choose from, they just won't be being run by us. We don't want to bombard you with even more club nights to choose from when we can use our budget to cater for students who aren't into clubbing instead.

How can I tell if it is an official freshers' event?

If it isn't listed on our website or on our official AUBSU Freshers' Facebook page, then it ain't official and we can't guarantee that the event is legitimate or not. If you have any concerns that you've purchased tickets to a fake AUB freshers' event then get in touch with us.

How do I buy tickets?

Our website people haven't yet been able to confirm all of your student IDs with the university boring IT stuff means that for the time being you'll have to create a guest account on our website to purchase freshers' tickets. To do this, click on 'log in' on the top right-hand corner of our website, then 'guest login', then 'register new account'. Easy peasy.

Why can't I buy a bus ticket the day before the event?

Tickets for all of our bus events will go off sale at 6pm the evening before the event is due to take place. This is so we can compile a final list of attendees and notify the bus company how many will be joining us. If you want to attend a bus trip, make sure you purchase tickets before 6pm on the date before the actual event. Ta!

What's the best way to meet new people?

Either by attending some of our freshers' events, or by joining some of our clubs/societies.

How do I sign up to join clubs and societies?

Simply come along to Freshers' Fair to meet all of the clubs and societies here at AUB and sign up to join them! Check out a full list of our current clubs and societies here. Can't find something you like the look of? Chat to us about setting up your own club/society! Memberships won't open up until term starts, so don't panic about not being able to join just yet.

I want to show off my AUB pride already. Where do I get my hands on one of those snazzy AUB hoodies?

We have an online store where you can buy AUB hoodies, tshirts, hats, and much much more! Click here to browse the full catalogue.

So, what exactly is AUBSU?

We're the Students' Union here at AUB. Our job is to represent students, and to hold the university accountable on issues that affect students. We also work to make sure that every student has a positive experience here at AUB, which means we put on a tonne of different events - everything from drink and draw sessions to a mini on-campus festival, create clubs and societies for a whole range of different interests, and campaign to get stuff done that will make your experience here more enjoyable.
