Volunteer Opportunities: November
RAG is our Raising and Giving Team, who dedicate time to raising money for charity though creative events, auctions, treks and more! Currently it's RAG Week, which includes a week's worth of Taskmaster Challenges, an Among Us Night and a good ol' fashioned quiz night (via an Insta Live). Everything is affordable to take part in and all proceeds will go to Hope For Food, a local charity supporting Bournemouth residents who are struggling to make ends meet.
See the RAG Week schedule here and get your tickets!
Creatives For Good
We are trialling this new platform to connect students with creative community opportunities and provide some volunteering opportunities that you can do from home. Charities and Not-For-Profits are struggling now more than ever and we want to help!
If you have creative skills, whether they’re in design, art, film, content production or writing, then please help lend a hand to organisations that need your support. We’ll be posting creative opportunities on this page, with contact details for the organisation – anything you’re interested in, volunteer a hand! We are hoping to grow this platform over the next year and reach out to local organisations to collaborate on creative projects but we need your support to do it. Get involved and utilise your creative skills to help others. Let’s make the world a little better, one brushstroke at a time.
Join the Creatives for Good Facebook group here. We're currently looking for interior and mural designs!
Here at AUBSU, we love spreading kindness, which is why we’ve launched Positive Post, a wellbeing initiative where students can send and receive uplifting postcards. If you send in a design, you’ll receive a different postcard back! We want to feature a variety of student artwork on our postcards, so whether you’re into digital drawing, typography, embroidery, or something else, we’re eager to see your designs.
Get involved by emailing your artwork to email@example.com. The theme is positivity, so help us to spread some positivity through getting creative, this can be anything. Your designs need to be size A6 with a 3mm bleed (108 mm x 151 mm). All artwork should be sent in a JPEG format with a 300DPI resolution and CYMK colour mode. If you’re working by hand, please take a high-quality photograph of your piece or scan it in at 300DPI.
Positive Post is all about celebrating student talent and we hope lots of you will get involved. Don’t forget to share your designs on Instagram and tag us @aubsu.
- Sites like freerice.com ask you to do simple little things like vocab quizzes and in exchange they donate to those in need. You could even set www.ecosia.org as your default browser and just by searching regular stuff like "Top tips for building blanket forts" you'll help plant trees!
- The Tree App lets you plant a tree everyday just by checking out 3 messages or questions from sponsors. You can even track your impact through the app!
- Zooniverse need you to help them with large-scale conservation projects by doing things like counting giraffes, monitoring chimpanzees and reporting on wild bird plumage!
Our Green Team is active and planning their sustainability initatives for the upcoming year! If you care about the planet, then they want you to be involved! Currently they're working on Edition 3 of the Green Zine and need illustrators, photographers, content writers and anyone else who can help! Simply message them on Facebook or Instagram if you're interested in helping out.
