It’s been a few weeks since the academic year kicked off here at AUB, and whilst we’ve already done plenty of events and activities, there’s still more things to come. To help ensure everyone is on the same page with our events, we’ve written another blog post containing all the things you can dive into throughout November.
4th November – 10th November
Love volunteering and doing some good things? Then Student Volunteering Week is the perfect week to jump into AUBSU events. On behalf of your Volunteering Officer Anya, you are invited to take part in a diverse collection of volunteering activities and opportunities, to give you a taste of a much larger volunteering week planned for next term. Post pals, Good Deed day, Quizzes, there’s plenty for you to get involved in and gain those volunteering hours to go towards your Level Up Awards. More details can be found here.
11th November – 17th November
Raising money for charity should be fun right? Here at AUBSU it most definitely is thanks to our amazing RAG team. To help you all get into the vibe of doing good things, your RAG Officer Kam, has planned a fun and active week of opportunities for you to find out more and get involved in a collection of events designed to raise money for a good cause. Whether you like decorating gingerbread houses, or even going on a crazy adventure for charity – RAG week is the perfect way to make new friends, have some fun, and know that all your hard work is going towards raising money for charity.
18th November – 22th November
Ensuring your voice is heard across everything we do is vital to making sure your favourite Students’ Union continues to run effectively. We are here for you, whether that be in the form of running events, or helping to set the wheels in motion for long term change with something you’re unhappy with. Think Tank week is a time where we ask for your feedback – and this can be on anything really. Did we run an event that you really liked and want to see more of? Did something happen on your course that you’re not too happy about. Get in contact with us and let us know!
things become too much, and it can feel like the weight of the whole world is on your shoulders. Sometimes you just want someone to reach out and tell you it’s all going to be okay, which is why this month’s theme for our wellbeing campaign is connecting.
As part of The Small Things Matter campaign., your Students’ Union will once again be out in the courtyard doing some fun and interactive events around the theme of connecting. Like to bake? Well we will be handing out some tasty biscuit recipes in the courtyard this month – and even better, we will also be having a Macramé workshop led by Jordan, your SU President later in the month.
Find the team in the courtyard on the 5thNovember at 12pm to get involved. Did you know that you can now follow the official aubsu_matter Instagram account to get not only more information on what is happening across the year, but also some good vibes sent to your feed! For the first time ever, we also have a Journal of Small Things that you can purchase from the AUBSU office for just £1 – it’s designed to help you find some light in the darkest times, as well as keep track of your mental welfare when things get tough. It’s pretty handy if you ask us!
Want to help raise some money for a good cause? Did you know one of the easiest ways that you can do that is by popping along to one of our RAG quiz nights and taking part. You can have up to 6 people on your team at once, and no sign-ups are needed. Quizzes will be happening at the start of each month, so just keep an eye on our social media feed for any changes or extra details. Starting time will be at 5pm, so just head to the Arts Bar!
Are you a budding entrepreneur looking for a space or opportunity to sell your work? Maybe you’ve made some cool fridge magnets, or want to sell some cool stuff in aid of course fundraising. Why not book a stall at our AUBSU Market Day? On the second Thursday of every month AUBSU takes over the main courtyard between 12 and 2pm and transforms it into a bustling mini market. Not only are there prints and cakes galore (all made by your talented fellow students) up for grabs, but we'll also be selling AUB merch to keep you all on brand, and you'll also be able to swap your unwanted clothes for snazzy new ones at our Green Team's Swap Shop.
Want to book a stall? Simply fill in the form on our Market Days page and tell us a little bit more about what you want to do, it’s that simple!
Looking for some creative inspiration for your studies? Then it’s a good thing we will be going on a trip to see an exhibition at the Tate Modern. Fancy coming along with us? Then purchase your ticket now to secure your place. Please ensure you read the full event description for details, as you will need to book your exhibition ticket yourself.
Come and learn the art of macrame! We'll provide all the materials, including a pot. Our resident macrame expert Jordan will lead you through the techniques, which will see you leave with your very own macrame pot holder and pot!
This event is part of our The Small Things Matter campaign because taking the time to learn something new and doing something different to your course works wonders for your wellbeing! Book your tickets here
We heard some of you beans like to play ping pong. Well, we have some exciting news for you! Play at our ongoing table tennis tournament SWERVE to represent a country and win prizes in our obviously very official AUBSU SWERVE World Cup 2019/20. Choose a country to represent (maximum of 2 only) and face off with other players! All welcome, whatever ability.
Entry costs just £2 per session, and because the tournament is spread across the whole year, you don’t have to worry about it taking up too much of your time either! Pretty cool huh? Details & tickets coming soon!

Tree Planting is one of our most popular green initiatives here at AUBSU, and we’ve been working hard to plan and book another one of these events in just before the term ends. Priority booking goes to our Green Team and remaining tickets will be released after. Further details about this event will be released upon confirmation.
Write poetry? Have a stand-up comedy piece you’ve been dying to try out? Then ORBIT is the perfect night for you. You can see this event as AUBSU’s Open Mic event, but more creative and open to what you can do. Entry is completely free, so all you need to do is turn up. Just pop along to the ARTS Bar at 6pm.
Want to perform? Then simply contact Bert at firstname.lastname@example.org to let him know! Of course, you can always perform on the night too!

Want to come spend time with them? Then ensure you pre-book on our website when tickets become available. Sessions will be happening 1 hour at a time due to the expected popularity.
