LUCY PEARCE

Breaking down the stigma since '95

As a second-year student who deals with mental health, I have a genuine passion for ensuring that other students are as comfortable and happy during their time at university as possible. I was part of the Students With Disabilities committee last term, and feel this has both taught me a lot about a variety of physical and mental disabilities, and shown me what could change around campus.

I run the 'I Don't Want To Go Insane' zine alongside the SU to showcase the art of students dealing with, and discussing, mental health, and would love to continue this.

I hope to:

  • Get 'students with disabilities' parking permits back - for those who do not have a blue badge
  • Create more quiet spaces/calm zones on campus
  • Showcase work made by artists with disabilities e.g. film screenings
  • Shed more light on the different disabilities and how to de-stigmatize these
  • Listen to the needs to students with disabilities and help to acheive them!
