Having founded the Podcast Society, alongside my Film Production studies helped me gather a wide range of views and opinions all across campus. This has given me an understanding of students’ issues and made me want to work hard to change things.

We are a creative hub.
Collaboration is what makes AUB a special place. In this, Students’ unique contribution is key. We need more recognition and visibility. It’s important that students’ engagement with cross-course collaboration is promoted, and although everyone endorses this, why doesn’t it happen more often? We propose the creation of a creative platform, so students can post their needs and communicate directly with the wider community. This will improve communication between courses and make collaboration easier (we believe this can also fix the all students emails problem). Also, we want the University to pledge space for a new BUMF gallery in the upcoming building works. This will boost student’s work visibility, further asserting BUMF as a professional destination.

Communication is the foundation of a successful collaborative representation. We believe that listening to the student body is the most important thing we can do as Sabbatical Officers. We want to make your voice heard and we want to allow students to directly communicate with us. So, by creating a regular space where we can discuss all that you deem important, we can better answer your needs and erase layers of bureaucracy. On top of this, we also aim to improve the way the SU communicates with you by developing an easy and accessible platform.

Environmental worries should be part of every institution’s agenda. Although AUBSU is no stranger to this, we feel that a lot of problems with recycling still need to be tackled, and have been going on for far too long! Introducing new recycling bins and clearer labelling on which materials to recycle would be just a couple of small steps that can have a huge impact.

Catering is surely the number one raised issue when gathering student feedback. Being aware of this, we’ve already started having meetings with the University’s Operations department, and are working on feasible solutions. An immediate solution might not happen, but if we work together many small improvements can be achieved.

Wellbeing is crucial for every students’ academic development. Without good support systems, university can be a tough experience. This is why we aim to improve the support university can offer, making sure that such resources are accessible and available to everyone. Although sometimes overlooked, sexual health is of extreme importance to wellbeing. We aim to raise awareness amongst students and staff, through workshops and targeted campaigns.

University is meant to be a safe space, and for the most, this is true. However, recently we’ve been made aware of cases where personal spaces and individuality have been jeopardised. A clear code of conduct and correct implementation of support systems will be of utmost importance, as a step towards universal respect and a more inclusive and pleasurable environment, a place to have serious fun.
