HANNAH DODDS

On Wednesdays we wear green!

In today's society it has become critical to live a sustainable and environmentally-conscious lifestyle. As Green Officer I would help to promote this through campaigns and generally raising awareness to students who already have an interest in sustainable living, and encouraging students who want to know more, but don't necessarily have the resources.

Since coming to AUB I have helped pitch the wellbeing garden to senior management and continue to work for this, helped at numerous green events such as swap shops, Fairtrade tie-dye workshop, Green Week etc. As the co-opted Green Officer this year I am working hard on campaigns focusing on fast fashion and have attended Environment Commitee meetings. As a Creative Events Management student it has always been a topic I feel passionate about, as the sustainability of events is prevalent to me and has been reinforced with my previous work at Lush.

I feel that I will provide a fair and passionate voice to students from their perspective and will prioritise any concerns they have or campaigns they feel strongly about.

My main focuses for the year would be:

  • Focusing on the use of single-use plastics
  • Reduce the use of takeaway boxes and single use coffee cups on campus
  • The importance of not conforming to fast fashion
  • Getting a wellbeing garden put on campus to let the animals and students flourish
  • The environment is more important than Primark!
